Dear Members,

Greetings

Life came to a standstill from mid March for the world over and our country was no exception to the devastation done by the pandemic COVID -19

The government was quick to respond to the situation and with the master stroke of lockdown could save valuable human life’s in the country which was made possible by untiring efforts of both the central and state government and with adequate support from the medical profession, police department, conservancy workers and other connected people.

The lockdown resulted in economic recession throughout the world and it’s the price we had to pay to save ourself from the pandemic

The situation has improved but is yet to become normal which restricts all commercial activities of trade and industry

With our countries heritage, culture and natural resources I am sure we will get over this crisis

Chamber took lot of initiatives to make representations to the State and Central Government and to Reserve Bank of India on matters such as Banking, Finance, Labour Issues, PF, ESI, waiver of loans, Port relates issues, waiver of demurrage charges during the lock down period etc.

I place on record my appreciation for the chamber, secretariat and staff as they were rendering their services from home especially with regard to certificate of origin to avoid breakdown of activities for exporters and manufactures

The crisis has given rise to use of technology and I am proud that chamber could conduct regular webinor meetings during the lockdown period for disseminating information to its members on various announcements, policies, Government Orders etc. We had an opportunity to attend the web based interactive meeting organized by FICCI with Industry Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu and also the National Executive Committee Meeting organized by FICCI, New Delhi.

The chamber salutes the government machinery for their endless efforts to keep safe human lives. COVID -19 will be with us for a long time and only we have to take all necessary precautions keeping in mind the government directive

The best medicine is “Develop Immunity and Don’t Panic”

Regards

CA. Sadguru Das P G
